FAQ

What is the Young Professionals Scheme?

The Young Professionals Scheme is a bilateral visa agreement between India and the UK, launched to allow young citizens (aged 18–30) from both countries to live, work, or study in each other’s country for up to 2 years. It promotes cultural exchange and professional growth.

This is different from “Young Professional” roles under Indian government ministries or the United Nations, which are job-based.

What is the qualification for Young Professionals?

For the India–UK Young Professionals Scheme, you typically need to:

  • Be between 18 and 30 years old
  • Hold a graduate degree or higher
  • Have at least £2,530 in savings
  • Be a citizen of India
  • Be selected through a ballot system

For government-based Young Professional roles (e.g., NITI Aayog, MoHFW, etc. in India), qualifications usually include:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in relevant field
  • 1–3 years of work experience
  • Strong communication and analytical skills

What is the salary of Young Professional programs?
  • For Indian government contracts, the salary typically ranges between ₹40,000 – ₹70,000/month, depending on the department.
  • For international programs (like UN or World Bank YPP), compensation can be USD $5,000–$10,000/month, along with relocation and benefits.

The UK–India scheme does not offer a salary — it's a visa route, not a job.
